Tell Us About Your Garage Door

Send a few details and we'll come back with the next step. The more you tell us about the door, the tighter the estimate.

What to expect

What Happens After You Call

When you call 1-510-229-3331, we ask about your door before we ask about your schedule. Panel material, how many sections, whether it's a torsion or extension spring setup, and how old the opener is - all of that changes the number we give you.

  1. Mid-century door stock

A lot of houses on the island went up between 1938 and 2005, with most of the stock dating to the 1960s and 70s, so we're usually working with original wood or early steel sectional doors on hardware that's been replaced at least once by the time we see it.

  2. Phone estimate details

If you can tell us the brand on the opener motor and whether the springs are mounted overhead or on the sides of the track, we can usually give you a close estimate on the phone. A broken torsion spring on a double door is a different job and a different price than a cable that's jumped the drum, and neither of those is the same as replacing a door that's rusted through at the bottom panel from damp salt air off the estuary.

  3. In-person final quote

We'll still want to see the door in person before we confirm a final number. Hinges, rollers, and track alignment hide problems that don't show up over the phone, and the quote we give at your door is the one that holds.

Our limits

What We Do Not Take On

We work on residential garage doors - springs, openers, tracks, cables, rollers, panels, and full door replacement. We don't do commercial roll-up doors, gate systems, or fire doors, and we're not set up to quote those over the phone or in person.

If a door has been sitting broken long enough that the frame itself has shifted or the wall around the opening has water damage, that's a carpentry or structural repair first - we can tell you what we see, but we won't quote a fix on top of a problem we didn't cause and can't solve with garage door parts. Some custom or imported doors also use hardware we can't get quickly; if yours is one of those, we'll say so before we start pricing instead of after.

Service area

Where We Work

We're based at 1926 Park St here in Alameda and we quote jobs across the island and into the nearby service area, including West Alameda and the West End, out to places like Piedmont, San Leandro, and Emeryville, each about six to seven miles off.

Wider East Bay reach

Depending on the job and the day, we'll also quote work as far as San Lorenzo, Ashland, or Castro Valley. Across this service area there are roughly 385,472 households, with about 172,438 of those in owner-occupied houses - a lot of original garage doors still standing on original hardware.

Fog-driven fastener corrosion

The climate here is mild temperate, which is kinder to doors than a lot of places, but the marine air and fog still find the metal fasteners and bottom brackets over the decades.

Same-day area confirmation

If you're outside the island itself, tell us the city when you call so we can tell you straight away whether we're quoting your area that day or the next.

Questions

Common questions

Can you give me a price over the phone?

We can give you a close range if you tell us the door type, spring configuration, and opener brand, but the confirmed number comes after we see the door. Alignment, rust, and hidden wear don't show up over the phone, and those are often what change a quote.

Do you quote jobs outside Alameda itself?

Yes. We quote across the nearby service area, including spots like San Leandro, Piedmont, and Emeryville. Tell us your city when you call so we can confirm we're covering that address and give you an accurate estimate.

What information speeds up my quote?

The door's material and number of panels, whether the springs are torsion or extension, the opener brand if there is one, and how old the whole setup is. A photo of the broken part helps more than a description of the noise it's making.

Will you quote a job you can't actually do?

No. If the problem is structural, or the door is a commercial or custom type we don't stock parts for, we'll tell you that up front instead of pricing a job we can't finish right.
